Duration: 5 x 1.5 hour sessions (7.5 hours total)

The first session we will learn about the materials we will use. Then we will be freeing up the hands and the mind, exercising hand eye co-ordination, using gesture and basic mark making, concentrating on the line and texture through short exercises.
Using still life, we will explore proportion, scale and composition through a variety of short exercises.
This week we will look at how we use tone, shape and shading demonstrated in short and longer exercises with a still life composition.
Our focus this week will be contour and volume, representing three dimensional objects in still life through line only.
Finally, through a series of exercises using props and our environment, we will look at perspective in a simple way. Then for our final drawing, students can choose any materials and subject and draw freely.
