Bollywood Dancing (IW)
Bollywood dancing is bright, bold and beautiful!
Come and join in the fun and immerse yourself in the colour and culture of Bollywood. Learn some energetic hip shaking, classical Bollywood moves with our fun and creative beginners classes.
Bollywood dancing is all about the magic of Bollywood and allows freedom of expression and emotion through the creativity of dance. Bollywood dance is a form of dance that tells stories using not only classically Indian dance moves, but also incorporates a mix, or masala! of various other dance styles but with an Indian flavour!
This course is fun and relaxed and requires no prior experience or skill. Just bring yourself, bags of energy and a wide smile, and learn the wonders of the enticing world of Bollywood dance!
When: Thursdays, 25 October to 15 November, 9:30am-11:00m
Duration: 4 x 90-minute weekly sessions

We will begin each session with a vigorous warm-up to some energetic Bollywood music, and some of the basic and most classic Bollywood moves, in particular the use of hands and feet and hips. A routine will then be taught to a popular and upbeat Bollywood track.
Each week will build on more learning of different and additional moves to the same track, with a recap of what was learnt previously.
At the end of 4 weeks you will have learned some classical and modern Bollywood steps and a routine to either a whole or partway through of a popular Bollywood track. You will get some great exercise in a fun and relaxed environment, whilst enjoying some wonderfully lively music that transports you to another world and culture!
Experience Level: No experience required.
Meet the teacher:
Sareena has been a professional Bollywood dancer first in London, and then in Sydney and around the world, for more than 16 years. Passionate about dance, she is enthusiastic about teaching the colour and culture of Bollywood through dance and movement.
She is am trained in ballet, modern, jazz and latin dance, and am also trained in the classical Indian dance form of Kathak from the very young age of 4.
Sareena has performed worldwide as a professional dancer, and has taught courses, workshops and created various choreography for many high profile events.
Since having her three children, dancing has taken a bit of a back seat for Sareena whilst she pursued a career in Pilates instruction. She is also a fully certified Pilates instructor and a yoga buff.
Sareena is intuitive and knowledgeable about the art of movement and alignment in the body, and loves nothing more than creating lines and shapes and movement of the body to music, for both health and fitness purposes as well as for mindfulness and general well-being. She is dedicated to dance and loves to pass on her passion to others.
