Week 1
Visualising your Ideal Home/Clothes. Ever wondered what a professional organiser
does? After a quick review of different organising philosophies, we will start on our
own Marie Kondo-inspired journey. We will visualise your home and how you want to
live in it and set goals for your organisation project. We will then get started on the
category which gives the quickest visual results - clothing. We’ll review what
questions to ask yourself when deciding whether or not to keep clothing, what to do
with unwanted clothing, how to fold clothing and finish the session with ideas for
beautiful clothing storage.
Week 2
Books and Paperwork. We will start the session by sharing our progress with
organising clothing and answer any clothing-related questions. We will then discuss
how to gather and sort books. You’ll get tips and trick for how to display books to
keep them organised. We’ll then discuss paperwork organisation and management
including mail and children’s art management strategies as well as how best to
recycle unwanted paperwork.
Week 3
This week we discuss all the items in your home that aren’t clothing, books,
paperwork or sentimental. We’ll learn how to sort the huge amount of things we
know into manageable subcategories and look at different ways to store items in
your kitchen, pantry, fridge and bathroom. We’ll discuss toy management strategies
and how to create drop zones and command centres to effectively manage your
families’ stuff.
Week 4
Sentimental and Strategies for keeping your home organised. In this last session we
will discuss different ways to store items that you cherish. We’ll then look at
organising your whole home so that it works for you. At the end of this course, you
should know what activities you want to do in your home from the time you wake up
to the time you go to bed. You will know what the purpose of each room is in your
home, what items belong in that room and have a toolbox of ideas for how to best
store those items so that your home looks and feels organised in a way that is easy
to sustain.
*Students should bring a basket of their clean laundry to week 1 so that we can
practice folding your actual clothing.
**Students should bring a bag of their actual paperwork to week 2.
